  雅思大作文范文:人性的贪婪和自私

We are in a selfish world today. We are so busylooking out for number one, so saturated by ourown problems, our own issues and our own little andoften petty concerns that we failed to see how allcould grow and being benefited by working togetheras a team. As far as I am concerned, the reason of the individual greed and selfishness wereactually caused by the faster and faster development and more and more competition of thesociety.

Some people yearn to return to the old and traditional values of respect for the family andthe local community in order to create a better world to live in. According to them , peoplewere more honest and warm-hearted and the manner of traditional treating each other wassimple and selfless in the past.

Personally, I do not support this view . Even in the past, greed and selfishness existed inour society. These two factors never disappeared since human have instinctive material needs, individual wants and desires would swell surely with the advances of life and society. Moreover, old tradition has its own limit and could only adapt for a certain period. I believe that the keypoint here is to create a better world is the way of formulating moral criteria and improving thespiritual education. For example, religions play a significant role in respect for the family andthe community.

To sum up, selfishness and greed cannot be avoided and eliminated, because they exist, more or less, in everyone's heart, even sometimes they contribute to the prosperity. Tocontrol them depends on the well basic education from every part of our society, such asfamily, communities, academic institutions, etc.

  雅思大作文范文:人生的烦恼

The pursuit of happiness has long been the dream ofgenerations of human beings. They have alwaysbeen puzzled by the essence of happiness. What ishappiness? Is it closely related to one’s economic success? Will one’s financial success lead tohappiness directly? Personally, I don’t agree that one’s economic success is the onlyprerequisite of one’s happiness in life.

Happiness may fall into different categories. An old saying goes like this: “One man’s meat isanother man’s poison”. Happiness may mean being a successful and respected leader of acompany, or a stable and comfortable job in a large international company, or a big flatdowntown, a fantastic set of furniture, etc. However, happiness can also be a harmonious andpeaceful family, or a hospitable and considerate friend, or just a smile, a gesture, a hint. Infact, happiness may be composed of anything you could ever think of. At least, we may havetwo types of happiness: spiritual happiness and materialistic happiness.

One’s materialistic happiness is dependant on one’seconomic success, though not completely. Without astrong and steady economic background, one couldnever imagine an easy and simple life, let alone anaffluent and luxurious one. If you aren’t able toafford a house, a car, or even a book, anybodywould be horrified at the mere mention of this kindof life. Definitely, some people will feel happy rightaway if their basic demands for life are satisfied. However, we have to admit that these people stillneed to be successful materialistically to somedegree.

On the other hand, one’s success in economy may not necessarily lead to one’s spiritualhappiness. As we all know, money doesn’t get you everything and some even say that money isthe root of all evils. One’s financial success may be built on the sacrifice of time, health andlove, which are the three most essential elements of spiritual happiness. All of us are not newto this picture: a successful business man tasting loneliness alone with a broken heart.

In my point of view, one’s economic success is only one of the key factors of happiness, butnever the only one. To be happy, one needs to be both spiritually and materially satisfiedthough each of us may have a totally different picture of happiness.

  雅思大作文范文:论处事态度,乐观或悲观?

Success is achieved by those who try and keep trying with a positive mental attitude becausenothing on earth can help those with a negative mental attitude. In general, successfulpersons are opportunity-minded rather than difficulty-minded. That is to say, the pessimistsees difficulty in every opportunity; the optimist sees opportunity in every difficulty.

Any fact facing us is often not as important as our attitude toward it, for that can determineour success or failure. The pessimist would visualize penalties of failure whereas the optimistwould visualize the rewards of success. It might be true sometimes that people tried hard half-way and failed miserably, from which a lesson is learned that they should not have tried at all inthe first place. Thus, after one failure, they are disappointed and discouraged, refusing tobelieve that the road to success is under construction. Since pessimists are afraid to fail, theyare not likely to experience the joys of success. More often than not, this wrong mentalattitude, or rather the fear of striking out, may hold them back.

It is certainly not the optimist's attitude toward success--always being ready as anopportunity comes. People with the right mental attitude are never scared by going too far,and they are convinced that success lies just beyond. True enough, it is not that optimistsbecome winners without encountering real problems, but that they are willing to do do whatlosers are not willing to do. In other words, optimists choose to step forward, as if it wereimpossible to fail; but pessimists are always in the same place. Therefore, both attitudes tell asuccess and a failure apart. In all likelihood, success is like the child of optimism.

It pays to assume that opportunity may be in the middle of difficulty, or at least this is whatthe optimist is inclined to believe. Indeed, success of life depends upon keeping one's mindopen to opportunity and seizing it when it comes. After all, optimists are right in believing whatthey can do and succeed; so are pessimists who think they would fail anyway.
